How To Repair a PDF

Rescue a document that refuses to open — everything that can still be read is rebuilt into a fresh, cleanly structured PDF.

  1. 1

    Upload the damaged PDF

Drop in the file that will not open. Repair's door is a forgiving one — it takes documents other tools turn away, and if the preview engine cannot draw the file at all, the page simply says so and waits. Files are deleted after 2 hours.

  2. 2

    Press Repair PDF

One click runs the rebuild: a forgiving read first, then a deep scan for every page object if the file still resists. Their own caution sits above the button — the repaired PDF might not have all contents from the original file — so keep the source around.

  3. 3

    Download the rebuilt file

The recovered document arrives on the ready page — previewed right there, page count included, waiting behind Download. One damaged last page comes back blank rather than sinking the whole file.

  • Made for broken files

The upload takes what other tools refuse — even a PDF the preview cannot draw.

  • Two-stage rebuild

A forgiving read first, then a deep scan for every page object if the file still resists.

  • Fresh structure

Pages are copied into a cleanly rebuilt document instead of patching the broken one.

  • Wrecked tail handled

A destroyed last page comes back blank rather than sinking the whole document.

  • Locked files redirected

Password-protected? Repair spots it and points you to Unlock with the password first.

  • Private by default

No account, no watermark — and every file is automatically deleted after 2 hours.

Repair — frequently asked questions

What kinds of damage can it fix?

Truncated uploads and broken internal structures — the tool rebuilds what it can, page by page. Whatever can't be read comes back blank, so nothing silently disappears.

Is Repair free?

Yes — Repair is free right here in your browser, with no watermark and no sign-up. Every tool on the site works the same way.

Do I need an account to use Repair?

No. Accounts are optional — they keep your credits, API keys and settings together. The tools work signed-out.

What happens to my file?

Every upload is stored under an unguessable id and deleted automatically after 2 hours. Nothing is listed, shared or emailed anywhere.

Can I run Repair from the API?

Yes — every tool has a REST endpoint. An API call for this tool costs 10 credits per file; browser use stays free. See the Plans & pricing page for plans and the API page for the endpoint list.
